"In 1994, Mark Messier led the NY Rangers to the Stanley Cup Championship for the first time since 1940. In 1997, Messier went to play for the Vancouver Canucks and then returned back to the Rangers in 2000. In his first home game after his return to New York, Messier and the Rangers faced the Canadiens on Oct. 11, 2000 and once again, the Rangers prevailed.
